Netherlands - June 1997

In June 1997, I followed a family member needing to attend a conference, to the Netherlands for a five-day trip. I was based in Rotterdam, and also saw Amsterdam, Delft, the North Sea coast, and the countryside in between. This was my second trip to the Netherlands.  I traveled mainly by train between these various points, with along taxi ride between Rotterdam and Schiphol airport when it was time to fly home.

Erasmus Bridge over the river Meuse in Rotterdam. The asymmetrical pylon gives a distinctive look to this suspension bridge. At the time of my visit, this bridge had just been completed.

More Amsterdam canal scenery.

Town Hall in Delft. Delft is the city where the famous blue-and-white china of the same name is made.

Dutch road sign, seen in Delft.
